Naan Recipe
Naan is a soft and pillowy Indian flatbread traditionally baked in a tandoor, or clay oven. It is typically served hot and brushed with ghee or butter.

How to Make Naan

In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and sprinkle yeast over it. Allow to sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

Add flour, salt, and baking powder to the yeast mixture and begin to mix.

Add yogurt and mix into the flour mixture. Gradually add enough warm water and knead into a soft, sticky dough.

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has nearly doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and knead it for a few minutes. Divide the dough into small balls.

Preheat your oven to the highest temperature with a pizza stone or heavy baking sheet inside.

Roll each ball of dough into a thin oval shape, then lightly brush one side with water.

Place the water-brushed side of the dough on the hot baking stone or sheet and bake for around 2 to 3 minutes, or until puffy and lightly browned. Brush the freshly baked naan with butter if desired.
