A calzone is a folded Italian pizza that is filled with all the delicious ingredients and flavors of a traditional pizza but enclosed in a doughy exterior.
Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C).
Roll out the pizza dough into two circles about 9 inches in diameter.
Spread the marinara sauce over half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edges.
Distribute the mozzarella cheese and cooked ham over the sauce.
Fold the dough over the fillings to form a half-circle and pinch the edges to seal.
Place the calzones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush the tops with olive oil and make small slits on top to allow steam to escape.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden and crisp.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
